Crypto payment gateway fees, explained

How crypto payment gateway pricing really works: percentage fees, network gas, minimums, and why a non-custodial model has no monthly fee or withdrawal cost.

Last updated: October 12, 2026

A non-custodial crypto payment gateway usually charges one thing: a percentage of each payment. No monthly fee, no setup fee, and nothing on an invoice nobody pays. The only other number to know is a small minimum per token, which exists so that collecting a tiny payment is never worth less than the network fee it costs to collect.

The percentage fee

This is the headline cost: a cut of each payment, usually set per network because different networks cost different amounts to settle on. With Vorixpay the current rate is 1% on BNB Smart Chain, 2% on Ethereum, taken from the payment at the moment it is collected on-chain — you never pay separately and you never fund a balance in advance. Live rates are always on the pricing page.

Network gas, and who pays it

Every on-chain collection costs a network fee (“gas”). Some gateways pass this to you on top of their cut; others fold it in. Vorixpay includes the gas cost of collecting your funds in the percentage, so there is no separate line item — what you see is what it costs.

The minimum per token, and why it exists

Because collecting costs gas, a payment can be too small to be worth collecting — the fee would swallow it. To prevent that, a gateway sets a small minimum per token: on a cheap network like BNB Smart Chain it is tiny; on a more expensive one like Ethereum it is larger. It is not an extra charge you pay on normal payments — it is a floor that stops a collection from costing more than it returns. If an amount is below every network’s minimum, you should be told at the point you create the invoice, not after.

What you should not be paying

  • No monthly or subscription fee — you pay only when you actually receive money.
  • No setup fee — opening an account and generating keys costs nothing.
  • No withdrawal fee — with a non-custodial model there is no balance to withdraw; funds go to your wallet on collection.
  • No charge on unpaid invoices — an invoice nobody settles costs you nothing.
The reason a non-custodial model can skip monthly and withdrawal fees is that it never holds your money — there is no balance to manage, insure or pay out, so there is nothing to charge for. See how that works in what a non-custodial gateway is.

Frequently asked

What does a crypto payment gateway charge?

A non-custodial gateway typically charges a percentage of each payment and nothing else — no monthly fee, no setup fee, and nothing on an unpaid invoice. Custodial processors often add monthly fees and withdrawal costs because they hold and move your money.

Who pays the network gas fee?

It depends on the gateway. With Vorixpay, the gas cost of collecting your funds is included in the percentage fee, so you do not pay it separately. The fee is taken from the payment at the moment it is collected on-chain.

Why is there a minimum fee per token?

Because collecting a payment costs a network fee. If a payment is tiny, that cost could exceed the payment itself. A small minimum per token ensures a collection is never worth less than the transaction that performs it — on a cheap network the minimum is small, on an expensive one it is larger.
